Abstract :
The pulsed electroacoustic method has been successfully applied to measuring space charge under AC application in polyethylene samples degraded by water trees. It has been shown that the ion polarization in the moist sample is dominated by the quick response of space charge profiles in comparison with the dry sample, in which the rate of space charge accumulation exhibited a relatively slow response. Further effort is required to complete the study on space charge phenomena under AC application not only in laboratory-aged sheet samples but also in field-aged power cables used in real power transmission systems
