Abstract :
This paper investigates the use of multiple-layered video streaming over satellite communication channels by means of scalable video coding (SVC). Simulations based on Gilbert-Elliot 2-state channel model are used to compare single-layered MPEG4-AVC/H.264 video with two-layered scalable video based on H.264. Resulting PSNR results show more superior aggregate video quality in the 2-layered case.
