Abstract :
Polarization controller is the key components for state of polarization control in the area of coherent optical communication and polarization mode dispersion compensation. This paper gives a new design of phase-delay control polarization controller. The principle and implementation of the polarization controller are described. This kind of polarization controller use piezoelectric ceramic to realize phase delay. Phase delay is controlled by changing control voltage of the piezoelectric ceramic. The polarization controller work under low control voltage, so it can achieve on-line infinite control. Testing result shows that this polarization controller can convert arbitrary input state of polarization to arbitrary expected output state of polarization.
