Abstract :
Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) protection device is the chief way by which the susceptibility to EMP of equipment can be decrease. Prior to each application, the EMP protection device has to be tested in order to evaluate its performances. In this paper, a new EMP protection performance testing system is designed and the Suppressing behavior of four kinds of EMP protection device during EMP stressing, e.g., response time and clamping voltage are analyzed. It is concluded that, the clamping voltage is increasing with the augment of the injected pulse voltage, and decreasing with the augment of the injected pulse width; the response time is independent of the injected pulse voltage and the injected pulse width. These important conclusions are significant in improving the revolution of structure and technology of EMP protection device.
