Abstract :
Initial cell search synchronization in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) system includes the time synchronization, the frequency synchronization of frames and the acquisition of cell identity (Cell ID). How to efficiently compensate initial frequency offset, combat uplink interference and adjust the automatic gain control (AGC) in initial cell search procedure will dominate heavily the UE cell search performance. In the conventional algorithm, it can be achieved by exploiting the essential near-perfect auto coherent detector and cross-correlation. For TD-LTE advanced system, we make good use of the character which the distance between PSS and SSS for TD-LTE is larger than FDD mode. We present a novel, low complexity, robust cell search for TD-LTE advanced system. The algorithm and scheme uses a non-coherent approach to calculate the initial frequency offset, meanwhile by exploiting the property of Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences that the detected peak timing is shifted under frequency offset, the PSS detection will always will be discovered regardless of the frequency offset in practice of cell search procedure. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is more robust, less complexity and effective than conventional approaches in TD-LTE advanced system.
