Abstract :
This paper discusses two stability issues of the head-disk interface of HAMR systems: (a) the heating induced air-pressure change and its possible interference to slider´s flying stability; (b) laser induced heating-up of slider body and corresponding crown change of slider body, as crown variation can affect slider´s flying height. Laser writing operation leads to nano-deformation of slider body. Such deformation (both local protrusion and crown variation) can seriously affect slider´s flying performance. It is necessary to explore solutions of new slider ABS design so as to significantly reduce the sensitivity of slider´s flying height to crown variation. One of such slider designs is proposed.
