Abstract
This paper presents an active power filter implemented using a three-level neutral point-clamped voltage-source inverter. The active power filter can compensate current harmonics and reactive power in medium voltage distribution systems. The paper presents the principles of operation and design criteria for both the power and control circuits. Finally, the viability of the proposed scheme is shown with computer simulation using Matlab
