Based on the simple description of a linear matrix inequality, a fuzzy controller to make a fuzzy closed loop system stable is given using the control toolbox of a linear matrix inequality combined with the stable condition of the fuzzy system. The simulation of an inverted pendulum shows this method is valid and simple
