Abstract :
Knowledge Management is an emerging, interdisciplinary business model that has knowledge within the framework of an organization as its focus. It is rooted in many disciplines, including business, economics, psychology, and information management. From a business strategic perspective, knowledge management is about obsolescing what to know before others do, and profiting by creating the challenges and opportunities others haven´t even thought about. The capability to organize and present education materials consistent with the individual learner´s knowledge is not present in most of the e-Learning systems, though many e-Learning systems have been developed in the recent years. In this paper, an adaptive e-learning system that makes use of appropriate knowledge management method and adaptability is proposed. Initially, the domain knowledge is acquired both from domain experts and WWW, then the acquired knowledge is stored in a knowledge base, where the knowledge is represented in a tree-based data structure. The knowledge is managed with predefined user level data mart. Finally, the learning contents are provided to the user adaptively by evaluating their knowledge level with the data mart along their profile.
