A framework for linking Data Quality to business objectives in decision support systems

The topic of Data Quality has been well researched. Much previous research have studied how to measure the quality of data, but the resulting measurements are independent of the business context. Hence, the link between poor quality data and how it impacts business objectives is largely unaddressed. In this paper, the author presents a framework that addresses this limitation by linking measurements of DQ to business objectives for decision support systems. The Author conducted an experiment in a retail bank to validate the framework and the results of the experiment establish that a relationship exists between DQ and quality of business outcome. The author also presents results and their analysis from the said experiment.
