Abstract
This paper presents the SRR effect on half-loop antenna characteristics. An original antenna resonating at 3.9GHz is shifted to 881MHz. Its radiation pattern is changed by adding one cell of Split Ring Resonators (SRR). The size of the radiating element is λ0/9 × λ0/13 and the ground plane is 0.3λ0 × 0.3λ0 (10cm × 10cm). The bandwidth, the gain and efficiency of the antenna are respectively 5.2MHz, 3.7dBi and 88%. The ground plane was increased to 15cm × 15cm to improve the gain by 1.5dB.
