Abstract :
Energy-efficiency (EE) of wireless communication is becoming one of the key performance evaluation criteria for battery-driven system. In this paper, an optimization problem to maximize the instantaneous bits-per-Joule metric with given spectral-efficiency (SE) requirement and maximum power constraint is formulated for uplink SC-FDMA system over frequency-selective channels. Based on this optimization model, a novel low-complexity energy-efficient optimal power allocation (PA) algorithm for each user is proposed to achieve maximum EE. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has a better tradeoff between SE and EE than conventional power allocation schemes.
