Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrated the potential of the thin-disk laser concept for 2 /spl mu/m Tm/sup 3+/-doped YAG lasers for the high-power range. It should be possible to overcome the thermal problem of the crystal with the help of improved crystal coatings. In further experiments, the doping concentration and the thickness of the crystals will be optimized for this setup.
