Abstract :
A voltage source inverter-fed induction motor drive model is presented for the simulation of inverter fault operations. The principles of vector analysis are pointed out and used to investigate the faulty operations of a 1.5 MW-traction induction motor drive. Some simulation results of GTO short-circuits are then presented and their consequences are discussed with respect to the voltage space vectors present at the motor terminals
