Abstract :
An induction machine, fed by a compensated current source inverter (CSI) with semiconductors having turn-off capability, is investigated by the authors. A new control and modulation method is developed. The principles of a three-phase hysteresis controller for the stator voltages are transformed into the complex αβ-plane, where the three hysteresis bands appear as a hysteresis hexagon. A predictive vector controller for the stator voltages is derived. The controller simultaneously works as modulator for the machine-side power converter. The control method is implemented in a 15 kVA laboratory plant
