Abstract :
The application of control to the zones in the secondary cooling process of continuous casting is the important approach to improve the product´s quality and the casters´ productivity. In order to study the setting control algorithm for secondary cooling process, a dynamic simulation model is presented, which based on the strands´ life-cycle model and the heat-transfer and solidification model. Based on the dynamic simulation model, a simulation software system has been developed, with a distributive framework. This system can simulate the dynamic process under time-varying casting conditions, such as the change of speed, water flux, casting temperature, steel grades, etc. obtain both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional temperature distribution and solidification path in the strands, at both transient-state and steady-state. So that we can study the dynamic response to the time-varying input variables and disturbance variables. It is also a configurable system, with programming interface for control algorithm. This system can serve as an effective experimental platform to further the study of the control algorithm for the secondary cooling process and soft reduction system.
