Abstract :
There is a special layer of air above the ocean, which can trap wireless wave. It is often called evaporation duct, and within it, refraction occurs obviously. The path of wireless wave, such as radar wave, could be affected and the detection will be increased or decreased, so it is very important in military operations. In this paper, the calculation formulas of pseudo-refractivity evaporation duct model are briefly described, and the flow of wireless detection range prediction based on the pseudo-refractivity evaporation duct model is also introduced. In order to verify the method, experiments on moving targets at sea have been carried out using an X-band radar, and the result shows that the forecast wireless detection range result based on the pseudo-refractivity evaporation duct model is approximately equal to the actual radar detection range.
