Abstract
A distributed transversal filter suitable for equalization of residual dispersion in high-speed optical systems has been designed. The filter follows a distributed configuration and shows DC to 40 Gbit/s frequency response, with positive and negative tap weight control. The target features are a tap delay close to 12 ps, wide bandwidth and optimized input and output wideband impedance matching. Additional considerations focus on the inclusion and minimization of bondwire effects on circuit performance. The circuit was fabricated in a 0.13 μm GaAs process microwave monolithic integrated circuit.
