Abstract
A multi-objective optimization is applied to the PI controller tuning problem for first order plus time delay controlled processes. A MATLAB® based graphical user interface is implemented as an aid to the analysis of the Pareto front and the final decision making of the tuning. In order to find the Pareto frontier a new optimization method is presented which transforms the multi-objective function into a single objective function plus an inequality constraint.
