Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a joint source-channel coding scheme that can provide and sustain high quality video service in spite of deteriorated transmission channel conditions of the DVB-S2 satellite broadcasting service. By combining the layered characteristics of the scalable video coding (SVC) and the robust channel coding capability of LDPC (low density parity check), a new concept of joint source-channel coding for digital satellite broadcasting system is developed.
