Abstract :
An efficient 2D to 3D video conversion method that utilizes the H.264 motion estimation procedure is proposed. The depth information is determined based on the objects´ motion information within the scene. Performance evaluations show that our approach outperforms the other existing H.264-based depth map estimation technique by up to 2.2 dB PSNR, and provides more realistic depth information about the scene. Subjective comparisons also confirm the superiority of our method.
