Abstract :
The Integrated Sensor System (ISS) program has been an on-going research and development program at the Air Force Research Laboratory since 1995 when two competing teams were selected for the ISS concept validation program. The ISS program was launched to develop an integrated sensor system design methodology that could be shown to substantially reduce cost, weight and volume while improving resource availability. The complete Radio Frequency (RF) transmit and receive functionality of current day fighters would be integrated into a single system comprising radar, comm-navigation-identification and electronic warfare. As a proof of concept demonstration program, only key components addressing stressing requirements would be built for the demonstration, those that would be risk reduction factors for later point designs of a specific aircraft production program. The ISS design itself would encompass the full range of RF functionality
