Abstract
ISO/IEC 18000-6REV1 defines new protocols supporting a battery assisted passive (BAP) RFID sensor tag which is compatible with EPCglobal Class-1 Generation-2 specification. In this paper, we developed a RFID reader system supporting a BAP RFID sensor tag using a field programmable gate array (FPGA) and implemented sensing data processing function in embedded linux platform. The receiving block of the reader modem uses Gardner TED to synchronize symbol timing. We tested the RFID reader and sensor tags in wireless demonstration network. The developed RFID sensor tag system could recognize a RFID sensor tag in wireless environment and display the sensing data in real-time.
