  • Abstract
Summary form only given. We report a comparative laser ablation rate study on inconel (nickel alloy) and alumina (aluminum oxide ceramic) using 180-fs and 8-ns pulses. The laser used for the study was a Ti:sapphire chirped-pulse amplification system. The laser wavelength was 800 nm, and the pulse repetition frequency was 1 kHz.
