Abstract :
Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS) and Digital Flight Information Services (DFIS) are part of the new CNS/ATM systems and technologies expected to bring a step forward in the art of flying. The operational and human factors considerations as addressed by Airbus Industrie on their fleet of aircraft to take these new functions into account are described in this paper. As CNS/ATM concepts are expected to evolve, to be modified by the introduction of new technologies (e.g. ATN) or to be adapted to the regions the aircraft will overfly, Airbus Industrie has been developing its AIM-FANS system upgrades (Airbus Interoperable Modular-FANS) solution which is described
