Abstract :
A novel barometric altimeter system for the application of vehicular test of SINS has been designed and implemented in this paper. The barometric altimeter system has been designed to give altitude and speed information of the vehicle. The main part of the barometric altimeter system consists of the pitot tube, the gas circuit, high-precision sensors, one PXI acquisition computer and user programme. The overall configuration and the gas circuit design are presented. The theory of operation has been discussed in details. A practical dynamic calibration has been taken to compensate the altitude value measured by the barometric altimeter system. Several experiments have been carried out to evaluate the performance of the barometric altimeter system. The result indicates that the system is compact and robust. The altitude and speed information of the vehicle can be measured in real time. Therefore, it is suitable for the vehicular dynamic testing environment.
