Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report high-power fundamental mode operation of a flash-lamp pumped Nd:YAlO/sub 3/ (Nd:YALO) rod SBS laser oscillator providing a maximum average output power of 50 W. An SBS cell containing SF/sub 6/ at 21 bars was incorporated into a special laser resonator design that enables one to completely fill the laser rod with the Gaussian beam, independent of the pump power.
