Abstract
Summary form only given. One of the strengths of optical signal processing is the ability to rapidly perform two dimensional correlation of images. A template image is first presented on a spatial light modulator (SLM), Fourier transformed by a lens, and recorded as a hologram. Then, the input image to be compared is used to reconstruct the reference beam of the hologram, which is Fourier transformed by a second lens onto a detector camera. Matches between the input image and the template result in a bright output peak.
