Abstract :
High power pulsed microwave oscillator, designed to maximize energy per pulse, is described. The oscillator is used to excite the compact phased dipole array with height of 100 cm, length of 110 cm and 20 kg weight. Oscillator dimensions are: diameter 14 cm, length 18.5 cm and weight 6 kg. Experimental testing has proven this oscillator, when driving a phased dipole array, to generate a 8 ns burst of three RF pulses with peak power level of 1.2 GW, frequency band 170-500 MHz. The oscillator is driven by an external power source and is capable of operating in the repetitive mode. Number of pulses in burst and bursts repetition rate are driven by the power supply capabilities. This oscillator can be used as a single channel within the phased multichannel HPM system.
