Abstract :
In this paper, particle swarm optimization (PSO) which is one of the evolutionary computing techniques is applied successfully to solve the problem of economic load dispatch (ELD). The objective function considered here is minimization of fuel cost of generators for three different bus systems. The results obtained from PSO have better convergence as compared to the conventional technique of using lambda iteration model. Further the paper explains the vulnerability of different parameters on fuel cost and transmission losses.
