Abstract :
Nanosecond and sub-nanosecond high voltage pulses can provide new biological applications. A cancer treatment by an ultra-short pulse high electric field is one of them [1]. High power pulsed electromagnetic wave has been proposed to apply the high electric field for that treatment. This work focuses on the design of a compact high power pulsed electromagnetic wave generator using a nanosecond pulsed power generator for the biological applications. For this purpose, we have developed a high frequency cluster burst pulse generator based on a SOS diode [2]. The generator uses a magnetic switch and the SOS diode with current cutoff time of nanoseconds. The generator outputs the multiple damping oscillation pulses like burst pulses in a cluster state continuously. In this study, we have added resonant transmission lines into the generator instead of LC oscillation circuit in order to get lower damping and longer duration time.
