Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrate static, bidirectional, and efficient (9-dB conversion loss) wavelength conversion between the 1.3 /spl mu/m and the 1.5 /spl mu/m telecommunications bands using periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ waveguides containing integrated devices. With improved waveguide uniformity and reduced propagation losses, a 0-dB wavelength conversion loss should be accessible using a diode laser pump.
