Abstract
This paper presents a novel approach on signal waveform monitoring for power systems. The monitoring of "real states" of power systems is critical for system secure operations and system restoration. This proposed approach monitors the "real states" of the systems and creates a new platform to achieve fast and accurate operation and control for power systems. A dynamic measurement unit (DMU) is also proposed to meet the requirements on data communications for high speed signal sampling. A simple test example is used to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the proposed approach.
