Abstract
We propose a carbon dioxide (CO2) gas sensor using an SPR (surface plasmon resonance) sensing scheme with an ionic liquid. In this study, we used [EMIM][BF4] as an ionic liquid. The permittivity of the liquid increased when it absorbs CO2 gas. This permittivity change was detected by the SPR sensing scheme. We confirmed that our proposed sensor was able to measure CO2 gas with a concentration as low as 700 ppm.
