Abstract
Summary form only given. We have successfully demonstrated the single-mode operation of a gain-switched 690-nm InGaP/AlGaInP Fabry-Perot laser by the self-seeding technique. We believe this scheme will lead to the efficient generation of single-mode pulses and is attractive for applications in short-wavelength nonlinear optics.
