Abstract
Summary form only given. We demonstrate a simple autocorrelator based on the Kerr lensing mechanism that offers a number of advantages over conventional second harmonic generation (SHG) systems. We can transform a standard SHG autocorrelator (e.g. a nonlinear Michelson interferometer) into a Kerr-lens autocorrelator (KLAC) by employing a z-scan geometry. This is achieved by simply replacing the SHG crystal with a Kerr medium (e.g. a semiconductor).
