  • Abstract
Multi-tone or multi-code modulation schemes, like OFDM or WCDMA, have the disadvantage of a large peak to average power ratio (PAPR). Efficient transmission of such high data rate signals is limited by the non-linearity of the power amplifier (PA). This causes interference within and outside the signal band. Without any measures, this interference can be reduced only with a sufficient input back off of the PA. In order to achieve a better efficiency in the PA, in addition to pre-distortion methods, the signal PAPR should be reduced. The paper shows a new algorithm which limits the PAPR without introducing any additional out-of band emission. Simulations for the WCDMA downlink signal are presented and compared to a state of the art solution.
