Abstract :
Summary form only given. We demonstrate, for the first time, we believe, hologram fixing in potassium lithium tantalate niobate (KLTN) by photorefractive domain switching. KLTN is a photorefractive material with a perovskite structure. In our experiments we used a monodomain sample with a phase transition at 25/spl deg/C. Domain switching was observed by monitoring the displacement current while recording the hologram in the ferroelectric phase. The experiments suggest that it may be possible to use high Tc KLTN crystals for long-term storage of optical holograms fixed by domain switching.
