Abstract :
An implementation of a JPEG 2000 interactive communication system is described, which is based on the JPIP image communication protocol. JPIP specifies an image communication scheme, which utilizes JPEG 2000 resolution/quality/position scalability so as to enhance transmission efficiency. Two transmission modes are defined in JPIP, tile-based JPT-stream mode and precinct-based JPP-stream mode. In the proposed system, transmission efficiency of the JPT-stream is raised in such a way as to reconstruct the tile data by using a set of packets at the server end. Comparison between transmission modes and details of system implementation are also explained.
