Abstract :
Summary form only given. Periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) has well-known advantages for cw optical parametric oscillators (OPOs). However, its usefulness for high-energy OPOs is far less certain because electric-field poled PPLN is generally limited to thicknesses of about 1 mm, which limits the pump energy to 4 mJ. We investigated various cavity configurations for extracting as much energy as possible from this limited pump fluence while still maintaining good quality output beams.
