Abstract
Summary form only given. Recently the fabrication of active waveguide on an appropriate substrate has received an increasing amount of interest. Barium titanate (BaTiO/sub 3/) is one of the attractive materials for such applications. In this study we describe the fabrication of BaTiO/sub 3/ and BaTiO/sub 3/:Nd thin films by pulsed-laser deposition process, and their optical nonlinear and fluorescent properties along with crystallographical nature. BaTiO/sub 3/ films were deposited on a [001] MgO substrate by pulsed-laser deposition.
