Abstract
Summary form only given. This work was done to develop a compact mid-infrared laser source for fast and sensitive detection of atmospheric trace gases. We report the application of all-diode-pumped room-temperature difference-frequency generation to detection of CO, N/sub 2/O and CO/sub 2/ in ambient air near 4.6 /spl mu/m. The DFG was performed in quasi-phase-matched periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/.
