Abstract :
Summary form only given. The idea of using a linearly chirped fiber grating for chromatic dispersion compensation was first patented in 1984, and independently published in 1987. The basic principle of a chirped fiber grating is that different wavelengths are reflected at different locations along the grating, which results in a differential group delay.
