Abstract :
Space division multiple access (SDMA) is a technique which can be used to increase the capacity of mobile communication systems by exploiting the spatial separation between different users. Space-time codes can provide good performance in wireless fading channels through spatial diversity. Here these two techniques are combined to produce a new architecture for CDMA/SDMA cellular systems using a space time block code. An analysis of this system is given, and the bit error rate performance for UMTS UTRA TDD and TD-SCDMA is presented.
