Abstract :
Summary form only given. GaSe and ZnGeP/sub 2/ crystals, having at the moment the largest bulk second-order nonlinearities of all nonorganic crystals in practical use, were originally proposed for nonlinear optics applications more than 20 years ago. However, the optical parametric generation (OPG) with these crystals has not been achieved until recently, due to the lack of an appropriate laser pump source. In this paper we use a Er-doped YSGG laser as a pump source to produce OPGs with broad IR tunability.
