Abstract
In this paper we describe the tests to characterize a wireless data transceiver, with emphasis on binary FSK (frequency shift keying) transceiver, TRF6901 from Texas Instruments, Inc. The performance analysis of the device is done with respect to one of the applications, TRF/MSP430 demonstration and development kit, consisting of two identical boards programmed to communicate using US (United States) ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band frequency at 915 MHz in half-duplex at 38.4 Kbps data rate employing NRZ (non return to zero) base-band coding. The kit employs an inverted F design on-board PCB (printed circuit board) antenna. Our test evaluates the performance of the device with respect to various factors in a free space environment.
