Abstract :
Numerical Electromagnetics Code, Version 4.1 (NEC4) was used to predict near field horizontally polarized field strength and far field radiation patterns of signals radiating in the HF band (2-30 MHz) from a 2000 foot span of (13 kV or less) medium voltage (MV) electrical transmission line typical of those used to transport broadband over power lines (BPL) signals. Interference potential to high antenna gain, low noise floor, HF ground side receive sites was analyzed to support a petition to the FCC to restrict BPL emissions on the aeronautical mobile (R) frequencies.
