Abstract :
Summary for only given. Adaptive photodetectors under consideration are based on the effect of non-steady-state photo-EMF. The effect relates to the property of photoconductive and photorefractive materials to store 2-D light patterns in the form of corresponding spatial electric charge/field distributions in their volume. In the case of standard photorefractive recording, this pattern is transformed into a phase relief via linear electro-optic effect and can be reconstructed using an additional reference light beam. In the case of the photo-EMF the "reconstruction" is performed by the initial (or another) vibrating light picture that causes a corresponding vibrating photoconductivity pattern. Interaction of this photoconductivity pattern with the recorded electric field produces the output short-circuited AC electric current with the frequency of the vibrations.
