  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Results of the experimental study of UV and IR lasers pumped by a radially convergent electron beam and excilamps based on longitudinal or barrier discharges or volume self-maintained discharge with UV preionization are presented. Compact high-power lasers have an active volume with 20-cm-diameter. Output energy 110 J at /spl lambda/=308 nm and 90 J at /spl lambda//spl sim/250 nm was achieved at a 30 l active volume laser device. The highest efficiency of XeCl-laser (5%) was obtained under a specific energy deposition of /spl sim/55 J/l. With a set-up of 600 l-active volume in mixture Ar-Xe at /spl lambda/=1.73 mkm the energy of 100 J and in mixture He-Ar-Xe at /spl lambda/=2.03 mkm 50 J were obtained, efficiency versus energy deposited was, respectively, 2% and 1%. The high laser efficiency was due to uniform excitation of the entire active volume by the radially convergent e-beam.
