Abstract :
Summary form only given. In conclusion, we have demonstrated a passive alignment technique that allows p-down mounting of an array of laser diodes to a silica-on-silicon photonic integrated circuit. This packaging method is particularly well adapted for WDM transmitter or receiver arrays where an active array of lasers or detectors can be inexpensively coupled to a mux or demux silica-on-silicon circuit.
